Here is my Sunday night beauty routine, using ingredients straight from my kitchen cupboard/kitchen. Got black pepper, yoghurt, cane sugar, raw honey, lemon juice, a banana and coconut oil? You are ready to trot ladies (and gents) and when you’ve finished your 4 steps, you are going to have clear, glowing, radiant skin – And how much will it have cost you? Virtually nothing. Each Sunday, I use alternative natural face scrubs and face masks to ring the changes but everything I need will always be right there at home.
Let’s start with those pesky blackheads that make homes in your nose. You might not be able to see them but others looking at you can – and men in particular should make this little blackhead removal trick a weekly treatment. Blackhead strips do Not work as well and why go buying something when you can make this simple recipe at home?
How to make: Mix together a flat teaspoon of ground black pepper with a flat tablespoon of plain white yoghurt, apply to nose (avoid eye area completely), leave on for ten minutes and wipe off. (info: Black pepper acts as a natural exfoliant to lift blackheads out). Voila, nose taken care of, let’s move onto this week’s facial scrub.
How to Make: (ingredients are Cane Sugar, Raw Honey, Lemon Juice)
Take 2 tsp of cane sugar, add 2 tsp of lemon juice, 1 tsp of honey and mix well. Wait for some time so that the sugar granules dissolve. Spread evenly over your face, leave on for 20 minutes then wash off with warm water. (Info: This peels helps should you have pimples, adds glow to skin and works on reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Excellent, so far so good. Now we need a hydrating face mask – and this week, we’re going bananas.
How to Make: (ingredients are one Banana and Raw Honey)
Blend one banana with one tablespoon of raw honey. (If you don’t have a blender mix together well) Using your fingers (which will get a little sticky – although it’s a small price to pay for the results), rub it into your skin, leave for 20 minutes then rinse off with warm water. Voila, smooth silky skin and only one step left. (Info: Banana has hydrating effect on skin. Raw honey has active, skin supporting enzymes).
Coconut Oil Facial Massage
Scoop a generous teaspoonful out of the jar (or use equivalent amount of castor/olive oil if you don’t have coconut oil), rub it well through your fingers then using upward finger movements, apply to throat. Change finger movement to small circular ones and gently work out from your nose, across cheeks, go around and around the eye area and continue across forehead. You are now a magician and your fingers know what to do and where. Close your eyes, keep those fingers going for three minutes and Voila. Take a look at yourself in the mirror. Yep, clear, glowing, radiant skin as promised. (Leave oil on your face so it goes on working. No need to rinse off).
