Now Ladies, you know what I’m talking about. Some days you look in the mirror and think ‘Hell, is that me?’ Maybe your look of saggy tiredness, came about due to a passionate weekend of lovemaking, (those were the days lol) or maybe like me, you know you weren’t drinking enough water, overindulging or just being lazy with your beauty routine.
When I returned to Athens after six weeks of nonstop travelling, my face looked dull and exhausted. Left in no doubt that it was time for one of my emergency measure beauty days, I set to work to restore life to my skin. Naturally, you don’t need to wait for an emergency since it’s a FANTASTIC skin pick up to do before weddings, engagements, birthdays, anniversaries and other special celebrations. Taken a step further, if you follow these beauty/health tactics every two weeks, within three months you will see a remarkable transformation in your skin and I guarantee You will be bombarded with compliments. (And don’t tell me you wouldn’t like that lol).
What to avoid on your 24 hour restoration programme: Coffee, meat, fish, processed foods, junk food – and whatever naughty treat you usually have.
What to include: Glass of warm water with half teaspoon fresh grated ginger and slice of lemon when you wake up. A homemade smoothie made with almond, cashew or coconut milk, half ripe banana and 1 fresh kiwi for breakfast. (Keep Kiwi skin and other half of banana for use in beauty treatments). Lots of water throughout the day. Salad or cooked vegetable dish with brown rice for lunch. Small handful unsalted mixed nuts for a snack. Probiotic yoghurt for supper.
With that taken care of, let’s move onto the face and the steps to take for your morning session
EXFOLIATOR: Easy peasy. Use the inside of the kiwi skin to rub gently over your face and neck. Leave on for 10 mins and rinse off. (Kiwi contains enzymes and beneficial vitamins that act much like a gentle glycolic acid peel).
TIGHTENING SKIN MASK. Crack a biological egg, separate the white from the yolk.(Keep yoke for beauty use this evening) Whip egg white into a froth and add 1 drop Rose essential oil for older, dry, combination skin or 1 drop Lavender oil for skin prone to pimple outbreaks and disruptions. Apply to face and neck with clean fingers or make up/pastry brush. Leave on for 10 mins then rinse off with warm water. (Egg white helps to shrink open pores and is high in collagen and Vitamin A. Within a couple of minutes you can really feel its tightening/lifting effect)
FACIAL MASSAGE. Give face, neck and eye area a gentle one minute massage with Sweet Almond, Rosehip or Argan carrier oil.
ICE TREATMENT. Run two ice cubes over your entire face and neck for 20 secs. This will give you an instant lift.
SUNSCREEN. Ditch your face cream (if still using) and switch to Sunscreen. I use 50 factor protection due to my age. If you are under 45, 30 factor protection will suffice. I have used sunscreen for years to minimize dark spots, skin discoloration and to protect against pollution and harmful UV rays – and definitely recommend.
EVENING BEAUTY SESSION
We will follow similar steps as for morning but we’ll do a fantastic natural skin scrub, a deep nourishing hydrating mask and put more a little more time into the massage aspect.
BROWN SUGAR FACIAL SCRUB. Easy, effective, fantastic. Mix together 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 2 teaspoons olive oil and 1 drop of either Rose or Lavender essential oil. Leave for a minute for mix to dissolve a little, then using clean fingers, apply to skin and gently rub it in using soft outward circular motions of the fingers for a good minute. Wipe off excess with kitchen paper (don’t rinse off) and you’re ready for next treatment.
HYDRATING, NOURISHING FACE MASK – Which gives instant glow effect.
What you need: 1 egg yolk. 1 teaspoon olive/almond oil, half ripe banana, 1 drop Rose/Lavender essential oil.
What to do: Mash banana with back of a fork then slowly mix in egg yolk and oils until you have a smooth mixture. Apply to face, neck and eye area (not too close) with clean fingers, makeup/pastry brush. Leave on for 25 minutes then rinse off with warm water.
It’s a bit messy but the above combination is AMAZING for the skin. Egg yolk – made of water, multivitamins, minerals and healthy fat, makes a great water-binding agent that locks moisture into the skin. Banana contains Vitamin C, B, E, K and other skin nourishing nutrients. The carrier oil further nourishes and hydrates and your essential oil works specifically to improve skin condition. After about ten minutes you can really feel all the goodies penetrating, tightening and hydrating the skin cells. After 25 minutes you can feel your face actually lifting. Yep, this is one of my faves. (You will be left with some of your brown sugar face scrub and half of this one. Why not go the extra mile and repeat these treatments tomorrow?)
MASSAGE TREATMENT. As soon as my video series kicks off, I’ll show you how to make my much loved natural anti-aging serum (which I use morning and night). For now, pour a teaspoon of carrier oil into your palm, add 1 drop Rose/Lavender oil and massage your face, neck and chest with mixture for three minutes. Use light finger strokes, remembering never to drag the delicate skin around your eyes.
When that’s done, apply your usual eye cream/serum and gently dab a tiny amount of Vaseline (or any other petroleum jelly product) around your eye area. This acts as a shield and seals your eye cream so it has more chance of penetrating the outer dermis.
You’re ready for bed and it’s time for a glass of almond, cashew or coconut milk to go on boosting your system as you dream of your next passionate weekend of lovemaking… And…when you wake up, something tells me you’re gonna LUV the foxy minx smiling back at you in the mirror. When you’ve given it a try, let me know. Xx
